Tony White, author of Shackleton’s Man Goes South, along with Andy Challinor, will speak at the Ilkley Playhouse Wharfside Saturday, October 19, at 1:30 pm.
Science at the Cutting Edge
From the site:
Tony White discusses his novel Shackleton’s Man Goes South – an evocation of a bleak post-melt world interspersed with real interviews with climate change scientists – with Andy Challinor, Professor of Climate Impacts at the University of Leeds. White’s novel was inspired by a science fiction story written for Captain Scott’s Antarctic expedition’s newspaper, the South Polar Times, which White found while writer in residence at the Science Museum. With extraordinary foresight, the 1911 story imagined the polar ice melting as the result of ‘climate change’.
