monikayadavMy life has been as much the product of hard work as of destiny. Born in the state of Haryana (one of centres of the project Green Revolution in India), I soon moved out from there to the hilly regions of Uttarakhand. Thanks to my father’s transferable job, we never stayed at the same place for more than 5 years.

Much like the character, Gatisheel, in the story where he could see his calling in Ganges, my calling has been the mighty Himalayas. Most of the schooling was in the picturesque and serene areas of Kumaun and Garhwal (the two major divisions of Uttarakhand). There was a time when my world was limited to the Shivalik range of the Himalayas along with the crystal clear waters of the rivers flowing through the valley, serpentine roads and the dense forests, away from the fast life of the cities.

In such an environment, I completed my schooling across the various towns in Kumaon, living in the various hamlets observing the typical hilly way of life.

Being a topper for most part of my life branded me as hard-working student and I entered the prestigious GB Pant University known as the “karmabhoomi” for the Green Revolution taking up the mechanical engineering stream where one finds the least number of girls. The next few years were spent in understanding the various nuts and bolts of the engineering and as luck would have it, I landed in a job in Mahindra & Mahindra. This again was in a production unit which had just two girls in the entire plant. After working for a year I realized that my true calling is actually working and doing something meaningful for the society and luckily I landed in a job as a management trainee, and I am currently undergoing training with the Punjab National Bank.

Writing has been a hobby since the early school days. In fact, the serene environment of hills brings out the best creativity in oneself which continued into my college days as I was the Editor of the college magazine. This soon turned into blogging although not a regular but I do like to write and raise social issues through my writing hoping that someday they create an impact on the society.
