In July 2016, in our Google+ Community, I was excited to share that KSR was working on a new novel about climate change set in New York City. The Sacramento Bee quoted KSR in an interview, stating:
I’m postulating a sea level rise and I’m doing a “drowned Manhattan” novel. For a Californian, writing about New York is scarier than writing about Mars.
Earlier this month, the Chicago Review of Books mentioned the new title and a brief description. Reddit also began talking about it. This announcement is exciting because it’s cool when big authors take on climate change. But climate change dystopia is not new for Kim Stanley Robinson. He’s written climate-based speculative fiction trilogies such as the Mars trilogy as well as the Capital Code trilogy that is more contemporary and set on our terrafirma.
