InSight, Paul S. Piper

Mary Woodbury

May 17, 2024

Can too much insight be dangerous? Jack Toyokata, a coder in the Seattle high-tech world, begins experiencing severe memory loss and resorts to an Internet supplement called InSight. Remarkably, the supplement works, but it has side-effects. Jack begins experiencing dreams of past murders from the victim’s point of view. With the help of an FBI agent, they discover the murders are related, and connected to a worldwide shipping magnate, Lightfoot, who they suspect is smuggling illegal wildlife. Through the dreams, Jack encounters an elephant guide named Peho who leads Jack through a  labyrinth of smuggling and murder in a nail-biting race for justice. A Buddhist monk, a new love, and an exciting career emerge from the ashes.

“A supernatural roller-coaster ride of mystery and murder.” Gregory Frost, author of Rhymer

“As soon as I met Jack, I was hooked. A terrific novel.” Sherwood Smith, author of INDA

Paul S. Piper is the author of two previous novels (The Wolves of Mirr and The Soul Loves Most What Is Lost), a collection of short stories (South Fork and Other Stories), five books of poetry, and two co-edited books of essays. He currently lives in Northern Westchester County, NY with his wife Joan,  and their dog Django. InSight is available in ebook from Book View Café Press, paperback and ebook from Amazon ), Barnes & Noble, or can be ordered from your local bookstore.

Praise for Paul’s two previous novels:

The Wolves of Mirr: “Paul Piper’s fierce love of wilderness ignites this suspenseful tale of wolves—human and wild, modern-day and mythical. Piper’s lyrical descriptions of the natural world create an immersive enchantment.” Sara Stamey, author of Ariadne’s Connection.

The Soul Loves Best What Is Lost: “Through his vivid portrayal of Yuki, a child of the Minidoka Internment Camp in Idaho, Piper portrays perfectly the damage done and the pain persisting in Japanese Americans interred during World War II.” Tim Pilgrim, author of Seduced by Metaphor.
