This site has always been ad-free, free to read, and freely supports authors and their books via interviews and promotions. I do this because I enjoy the field of eco-literature and want to share it near and far. I have never had a grant, patreon, or kickstarter. This site is one of my passions. I also get annoyed with big pop-ups and ads on other sites, and, increasingly, some of the knowledge and information we need these days is behind a paywall. I can assure you that won’t ever happen here. I think important knowledge and information should be accessible.
But I want to mention ways that you can help support this site, monetarily and otherwise. Supporting me in the following ways gets you something in return! It also allows me to keep up the otherwise huge volunteer effort at Dragonfly and helps me to afford other resources used at the site, such as my yearly subscription to Canva, (past) licensing of artwork at Can Stock Photo, the continuation of the .eco domain and costs of yearly hosting, the buying of books to spotlight when a review copy is not available, the occasional cost of pro plug-ins, such as forms used in contests, and so on—all costs involved with running a site this large.
Supporting Me as an Author
I’m a fledgling novelist. My first novel, Back to the Garden, sold fairly well and got nearly fifty positive reviews. The sequel (The Stolen Child) was out in print January 2023. An anthology I edited and published, Winds of Change, is in its second edition and is used at colleges that teach about climate change in fiction. My latest novella, an experiment in the eco-weird, Bird Song: A Novella, needs a bit more love. A middle-grade novella I wrote during college in the 1990s and updated in 2022, The Little Big Town, is available as an ebook. My fun three-part series Lost Ages is also for sale. You can help by buying my books and reviewing them. Note that for now I’ve removed print titles from distribution as I navigate ways of supporting Canadian independent booksellers without auto-distribution at Amazon.
Networking
Networking is a way to find new friends and learn more about mutual interests—in this case, the large field of eco-fiction. You can follow me on social media. The beauty of this media is that I follow you back if your account does not seem trollish or spammy, and hopefully we’ll have time to get to know and support each other’s work. You can also join in the Rewilding Our Stories Discord, which I run with ecofictologist Lovis Geier and Sara Davis. From the Discord, we’ve established a new book club and opportunities have come up for mutual interviews and spotlights.

I used to offer these services but then got busier in my professional life and am sorry to say that I do not have time to review or edit stories anymore. Maybe someday I can pick that up again.
