Vancouver Joins International Community in Climate Change Short Story Contest

September 27th is 100,000 Poets for Change, an annual celebration of artists, poets, musicians, and authors promoting sustainability and peace. In Vancouver, we have led this event for the past few years. During two years we led beach cleanups, another year an “earthwalk” around Stanley Park, and another time a reading in the downtown eastside from several Vancouver poets participating in Enpipe Line.

This year we decided on a virtual event due to being busy and moving right before the annual day for change, so we began a short story contest with the theme of climate change (the deadline was August 30). We invited authors in British Columbia, but then also opened up the contest to authors around the world. Eco-fiction is really excited to bring together so many talented authors who care about the environment. If enough stories qualify, we may be publishing an anthology in the coming year.

This is part of Climate Week, very fitting for the timing of short stories on the subject. The winning author will receive $100.00 USD and will be featured on September 27 in a multimedia presentation at Eco-fiction.com. The presentation will spotlight photos, poems, and selected stories from contest participants.
